CAUTIONARY ANNOUNCEMENT
Shareholders are advised that IMPERIAL has entered into discussions with Nedbank
Group Limited ("NGL") regarding the acquisition by NGL of IMPERIAL`s interest in
IMPERIAL Bank Limited which, if successfully concluded, may have an effect on
the price at which the company`s securities trade on the JSE Limited.
Accordingly, shareholders are advised to exercise caution when dealing in the
company`s securities until a further announcement is made.
